Dorothy and Hank's 25th Anniversary

The honorees at Deerfield Country Club. The foliage screen for the fireplace was custom-built by Roy for the occasion. Gayle and Carol started covering the chicken-wire frame with leather leaves from the florist; when Gayle, who took over the project, ran out of the leather leaves, Roy went over to his aunt’s and climbed a magnolia tree to get choice leaves to finish covering the frame. The caterer for the occasion, Mildred Brown, a friend of the family, was delighted with the result. Since she catered a number of things at Deerfield, she offered to buy the screen after the party. Relieved of the responsibility of carting it home and disposing of it, Roy graciously (gratefully) gave it to her.

We were having a difficult time deciding on Mother's corsage until Andria found these: appropriately enough, "Silver Anniversary Tea Roses", which just matched her dress. corsage

Dot and Hank’s anniversary gifts to each other were diamond rings. When someone pointed out that it was a silver anniversary rather than a diamond, Mom replied that she was having to double up to get them all in.
